Photovoice

Can photos communicate a community or group’s thoughts and feelings about water, rising seas and climate change? Three different groups took on this challenge during the festival but did each group share the same ideas and views? Are there different ways of thinking about water and climate change? Can images help us to understand some of these complex issues more easily? Find out in this lively forum where three groups will share their images and the outcomes of the Photovoice workshops.

Participants captured photos which communicate what they value and what they see as concerns about being or living at the water’s edge during a time of uncertainty caused by climate change. They also captured images which communicate what they value about the Floating Land festival as a way of communicating ideas about climate change, rising seas and sustainable living. Join us to find out which photos each group selected and why.

University of Sunshine Coast researchers, Dr Claudia Baldwin and Dr Lisa Chandler are inviting visitors to Floating Land and residents of Boreen Point to participate in a Photovoice workshop. The aim is to capture images which communicate what participants value and what they see as concerns about being at or living at the water’s edge in a time of uncertainty caused by climate change.
